Vacations in Tavira: where to stay

There are plenty of good and affordable choices when it comes to find a place to stay during your vacations in Tavira. I have a list of places for accommodation in Tavira in the section of pages where you can choose from Hotels, Guest Houses, Bed and Breakfast and if you feel adventurous… Camping.

When it comes to Hotels, I should say that both Vila Galé Tavira and Vila Galé Albacora are excellent choices. While the first one is more close to the city centre, the latter is a bit far if you don’t have your own means of transportation. Nevertheless there is another excellent choice and somewhat more expensive and luxurious, Hotel Pousada Convento da Graça; this one right inside the historic walls of Tavira and will give you easy access to the city centre and all amenities.

If you prefer Guest Houses, I personally recommend Quinta do Caracol which has a beautiful garden, tennis courts and it’s composed of cozy carachteristic individual apartments.

Usually the popular picks are Serviced Apartments, but these you can find them mostly outside of Tavira and in the surrounding Parishes like Pedras da Rainha in Cabanas de Tavira, Pedras d’El Rei in Santa Luzia (very near to Barril beach).

Yes, you are still in time to enjoy some nice and relaxed vacations. Whether you believe it or not, September is one of my favourite months to be in Tavira. The August crowds are gone, the weather and the water are still warm, prices went slightly lower… in fact you can have a good time until October; here is a satisfied customer.

Here are a few photos I took while I was around in the crowded month of August.

Whenever I decide to travel, whether for business, vacations or just for a short weekend, I like to research and make a summary of whatever is best for my needs. For instance, first I like to see what are the options for accommodation in that place if I don’t have friends living there, the weather conditions are also a factor to help decide when I want to travel; then as a passionate for photo I like to check nice spots to visit and events that might occur at the time of my trip.

That’s why I decided to compile a collection of websites about Tavira, useful sites you might want to have a look at when you plan to visit Tavira in your next trip. Some of these sites contain a section dedicated to Tavira, some are more complete than others, but I’ll try to highlight what is worth to check.

Portugal Virtual – has a section about Tavira, it gives you a very summarized idea about the city, although it has some unique sections worth of visit, like the History or quick highlights, also found interesting the handicrafts section.

Algarve Portal – also with a section about Tavira, this portal is a bit more complementary information, giving you the option for a nice virtual tour of the River and the castle.

Algarve Info – has their bit of info about Tavira, I found particularly informative and useful from a touristic point of view the PDF with distances between cities.

Car Hire Algarve – if you plan to hire a car and drive around Tavira, here is their price list with all the benefits they offer.

On a second note and if you plan to tour around the beautiful Portugal, or just the unique Algarve Region, you might want to have some nice and recommended accommodation resources at hand, like Venere Portugal Hotels or Pousadas de Portugal.
