December approaches and Tavira already has a myriad of attractions and festivities to commemorate Christmas 2010 and the New Year 2011.
On the 26th of November was inaugurated the Christmas Illumination and between the 13th and 27th of December there will be a storefront contest between all shops in town together with street entertainment and face painting with Santa Claus and his Elves.
But the most awaited moment for the children will take place on 7th of December at 10h30, with the arrival of Santa Claus and Elves on the streets downtown.
You will also be able to see several musical performances and museum expositions dedicated to the season.

For the last two years I have been astounded at the lack of publicity about the Christmas church services. I like to go to mass at around midnight on the 24th December but I am not able to find which church/s are having a service. Is it not possible to ask the local priest/s to contact the Camera to have the times and locations of the services published in the monthly events booklet? I have even met other people, like me wandering around looking for a service!
Also the old format booklet was more useful as it was possible to find the locations of events using the map. It is not possible now as the ‘key’ is missing. The other problem is the booklet is too small now as is the type face, its difficult to read when so small.
Thank you. Boa Ano Novo.
